55.1x78.7 in ~ Painting, Acrylic, Enamel
13th work from the Sinapse series. Dripping with enamel on acrylic background on canvas. Abstract expressionism, without any figurative representativeness.
Inspirational theme:
The title "The fragmentation of the self" is a tribute and metaphor to the work and life of the Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, and which served as inspiration for this abstract work. One could say that the fragmentation of the self is the work of a thinking and inquiring life, of one who is never quite right in just being. Pessoa, who fragments himself into heteronyms and comes in the wake of other great thinkers like Nieetzsche and his "God is dead" sublimely deconstructs what is visible and conscious in search of what is most unique in the human being, his soul and his unconscious.
